Sunday I did Patti’s 45 mile ride from the Salt Lick in Round Rock Texas. I loved the ride, it’s one I am going to remember for a long time. There are several reasons:
- I was able to complete the ride feeling stong. I have ridden shorter versions of the same route several times before and I have bonked along the way. However, I didn’t have is problem. I think a large part was we rode much more sinceable then I have in the past. We stopped twice for Gu, and we held the speed down much better. As it was we maintain a moving average of 16.4 MPH.
- The last half of the ride was in pouring rain. Which meant that we were ether racing an approching rain storm or riding through the rain. It didn’t give you lot of time to think about being hot and thirsty.
